has covered Latin America for a generation. Based in Mexico, he has provided analysis and reporting on widespread topics including migration and the US/Mexico border, the Venezuelan economic collapse, Amazonian deforestation, the evolving end of communism in Cuba, the insurrection in Brasilia and recently the crisis in Haiti, among many others.

He also writes for Euronews and is managing editor of Currents, a new, international socio-environmental magazine covering, in depth, the least told stories of our time.
